Playtex Shopping at Pick n Save

Did I really buy all that Playtex? I think it's a year's supply and that's way more than I usually stock. In all, I spent $27.76, saved $57.69 and have a $10 register coupon for next week. Here's the deal. My buy price is $1 for 18 to 20 count. These came out to $0.86 per 18/20 count box so I picked up two of the deals. Here it is:

2-Playtex 36 count $7 each

3-Playtex 18/20 count $4 each

Total: $26

Used 2-FREE 18/20 count when you buy 36 ($8)

AND 1-$1/1 doubled for the extra 18/20 count ($2)

Pay: $16 plus tax

Get $10 receipt coupon when you spend $25

Net Price $6 for the equivalent of seven 18/20-count boxes

No, I couldn't use more $1/1 coupons for the 36-count I purchased because a buy one get one coupon requires the purchase of two to use the coupon.  I suspect people have been trying this because the cashier asked to check my coupons before ringing the Playtex. Will it sometimes work to use a $off coupon with a BOGO? Yes. Is it right? No. Don't do this.

I did two transactions for the Playtex and since I had already reached the threshold for doubling, I picked up Ken's dressing and V-8 Juice.

Total: 3/$2.98 or $1 each

Not the greatest price on this, but my husband uses it as "sauce" on almost everything and we've even paid full price, gasp!

I had more Playtex coupons and could have purchased more Playtex, but I didn't. Don't you think I got enough?  Never fear.  It will go on sale again.

You might have noticed that I purchased two gift card deals, meaning my out of pocket costs would have been $22.26 with $10 back in gift cards. However, I made three trips, used a gift card from a previous purchase for the first deal and the gift card from the first for the second deal. Instead of using the second gift card for the third purchase, which was less than $5, I put it in my pocket to save for the next gift card deal. I almost always save my Target gift card to use on the next gift card deal I purchase. Is that strange?

Running Out of Storage Space?

You might have noticed that I often don't buy much. That's because I have a good supply of almost everything. And, by "good supply" I DO NOT mean 100 bottles of hair gel, cream, tonic and spray. Yep, that's how many hair styling products a new couponer I recently encountered has collected. 

I've been doing this for years and let me tell you, I have never met anyone who needs 100 bottles of hair styling products. Even when they're FREE. Plus, after years of couponing, I've found you can ALWAYS count on products going on sale again. 

The hair styling products in question go on sale about twice per year. That means you only need to stock enough to last until the next sale, in about six months.

You can save (a lot) on products you need and use and build a full and peaceful life of plenty, or you can chase every deal that comes along creating stress and chaos in your life and the extra job of managing an out-of-control stockpile. 

I buy two newspapers per week, "cherry pick" the very best deals on products I need and use, and stock up with a three to six month supply or less if I see it at rock bottom prices more frequently.

Just my two cents.

Received $8 in RR for next time

Net $0.83 (you heard right $0.83 for all this)

Took advantage of Pick n Save's Double Double Daze yesterday to stock up on a few things. I bought all the above for ONLY $9.50 and saved $50.75. Here's how it adds up.

What Did I Buy? Walgreens & Why I Don't Always Buy FREEBIES

I know there are a lot of FREEBIES at Walgreens this week, but I don't buy something just because it's FREE. Owning stuff comes with a cost. You need to make the trip to the store, carry the FREE stuff home and find a way to store it. Ok, maybe you'll donate it, but you'll still need to store it and then eventually make the donation. 

In most cases I'd rather keep my cash in my pocket.

I will buy FREEBIES that I don't want or need if I get paid to buy them. For example, toothpaste FREE after Register Rewards with a coupon that makes it a moneymaker. 

I will take home something that's FREE but not needed if it helps me save on other purchases. You need to spend a minimum $25 at Pick n Save to double coupons so I'll "buy" something that's FREE after coupons to reach that $25 limit so coupons double on products I need and will use double. 

Finally, I will pick up something for FREE if it's something I'm willing to try or similar to something I already use.

That said, I always get ThermaCare when they're FREE because my husband uses these occasionally and actually prefers this brand. I also took home the FREE South Beach bars because, although I've never tried these, I like the convenience of bars and these are relatively low in sugar. I'm willing to try them for FREE.

All in all, I purchased three products, used three register rewards from last week and spent $3.49 plus tax and received $14.49 in RR for next week.

We don't shop at Target often, but I was getting low on Splenda and they had a great deal. As long as we were there, I picked up a couple other good deals. You can see them all on the Target Deals list, and here's what I bought. 

Splenda Essentials were $0.49 after $2/1 mfg coupon and $1/1 Target coupon from 1/8. The Kashi Pita Crisps were on price cut for $2.74 and $1.49 each after I used $1/1 pita crisp printables along with a $0.50/2 Target Kashi printable. I also picked up the Market Pantry mac and cheese for FREE with the $1/1 Target printable.

Total: $30.72 or $19.98 with card

And 3-$1/2 Crystal Light, doubled

Spent: $9.98 after double coupons and saved $20.74 or 68%

And I got back a $4 register coupon for my next purchase because I bought five or more Crystal Light!

What Did I Buy? Menards

In spite of all the Crazy Days deals, we didn't need much so I only purchased Blue Diamond Almonds. We would have bought more if they had the smokehouse almonds, but by Saturday, there were only Bold flavors left so we only bought four for $2.75 each.

We used two $1/2 coupons and spent $9 out of pocket (used Menards money from previous rebates) and we'll get $7 back in Menards money (rebates are paid in merchandise credit check)

What Did I Buy?

I wanted to give you an idea what I buy, because while I post shopping lists loaded with deals, I don't buy everything. In most cases I only purchases a couple deals at a couple stores. 

I've built a stock of many personal care, household and grocery products so I can cherry pick the very best deals. In addition, we've purchased a half pig for $1.79/pound and are saving for a half cow at $2.29/pound so our meat purchases are partly covered.
